3 and 1

I copied my friend Lindsey and got some bday balloons and took a few pics so we'd have some for their birthday.

We saw this dress at Costco and we both fell in love.

Kate was a little harder to capture because sher just wanted to run around and not look at me ;)

They seriously are such good little buddies

The happy, fun birthday girl!

Abby and Kate's Strawberry Shortcake Birthday Party

Abby and I had been talking about her party for months. Neither of us could hardly wait for Feb 1st to come! I am thinking about posting this party to Kara's Party Ideas... So I took a lot more pictures, some of them after the fact, so you could see more of the details.

I was giddy about how fun it was!

And I do just have to say... With out a lot of help from others, there is no way I would've been able to enjoy their party! I always think something like this would be simple enough to pull off, but even though I love to plan things like this, and I really kept it pretty simple- I think these things take more work than one woman can do alone! Anyway- I was just so pleased about how much everyone seemed to enjoy it, and I did too! So, with that... here's some pictures to remember their fun party!

I framed a couple birthday pictures of the girls and hung some banners I'd used for other parties again that I think are so cute and girly :)
We had all the kids color when they got there. Even the older kids really got into the coloring contest.
Then we played "Pin the Strawberry on the Vine". I think everyone really had fun playing and watching! Grant had a creative method, and if I remember right, we was the real winner :)

Then we blew scented bubbles out back. They actually smelled way delicious!
Kate was giddy with excitement too with all the kids around. It's so fun to have her able to run around with them. She loves going outside.
Next, we let each kid take a maraca or a butterfly and they played follow the birthday girl leader.

Then we just turned on some music and let em dance! That is Abby's favorite thing to do.
Then we ate some lunch...
Not a great picture, but the chicken nugget containers I thought were really fun (and cheap).

num num num...
K these were sooo good! I may have almost had complications of "whipped cream poisoning" from all of this whipped cream cheese frosting I pretty much drank that day (and the next and then next...) between the shortcakes, these, and the jellopretzel salad that was made in memory of Grandma Chris. Recipes for the cupcakes/ frosting:

Original recipe makes 1 frosting for a 2 layer 9-inch cake

  1. In a small bowl beat whipping cream until stiff peaks form; set aside.
  2. In a large bowl combine cream cheese, sugar, salt and vanilla. Beat until smooth, then fold in whipped cream.
Again, shout out to my mom that made it possible for me to enjoy the party with all her help!
Abby was really excited to open presents

And Kate is growing up so fast! She's barely one and is opening doors. I think she and Abby will have a lot in common.
I liked putting these together- Strawberry Applesauce, some stickers and a little bracelet on the back.
Since this birthday girl burnt her little finger on the flame and was pretty sad when we were singing happy birthday at the party, we took some more pictures of them eating cake the next evening on Kate's real birthday.

This girl loves her cake!
Had to capture this face. "Get me out, mom!"
