Memorial Day and Stuff :)

The following are some pictures I've been meaning to post for quite some time now... Enjoy!

Fondue night with the Harmon's. I think every little kid loves Oreos- Katie's no exception!
Abby and Sophie- (Dangit- I remember they were doing something cute over there, but I don't remember what it was... That's why I really should blog within the month after the events happen... ;)
Homemade icecream and cookies with Chase and Rachel. DE-LISH-OUS.
 Lunar Eclipse!
Abby's first popsicle. She definitely enjoyed it! Grammy Mona made sure to be the first one to spoil her with the frozen treat while they were down for the weekend.

 BBQ at Grandma Berry's.
Cousin games at the Memorial Day BBQ.
Kennedy's adorable 2nd birthday. It was the cutest Curious George, pink and
yellow theme. Such a fun party!
Kennedy and Abby have become some very cute friends. They like to sit practically on top of eachother while they watch their shows together. Abby's changing so fast though that I wonder if she'll still be nice to Kennedy... She has a tendency to hit the other kids these days!

2 of my dad's favorite things...

1) Abby. (his only grandchild) My dad is super-playful and loves kids. They've become best buddies- though sometimes she is scared the first few times she sees him...
2) Family memories. My dad is way into making lasting memories- he loves to take lots of video and pictures everywhere we go. He's done an excellent job at that.

So--- a little treat for "Gampa" on Father's Day!
This video was taken about a year ago. She's so little :)

These were taken at Krissy's chicken coop a couple weeks ago. She LOVED the chickens.
I thought these were adorable- and had to let my dad enjoy them.

Here are some other fond grandpa/abby memories---

I think it's time for some more abby-grandpa pictures! We'll be up to visit before you know it.

The Big Backyard Reveal

grass area is way bigger. love it.

someday we'll add some cute, stamped concrete for a firepit area.

before: weeds.
after: grow boxes and a sand box!

Abby is terrified of the sand! She was so scared when we let her feet touch, that she threw her sippy cup. She tries to climb on our heads everytime we get near the thing. Weird?

She does like the grass though!

And she LOVES riding around on this thing!

life's short

The life of my grandmother, Sherlene "Chris" Hobson was shorter than I'd have expected. Everyone that met her could tell you- she was so full of life, even a month before she passed. She had Melanoma (skin cancer) about 30 years earlier, and it came back probably only a few months ago. She'd been feeling mostly fine until the cancer had eaten the marrow in her spine and broke her back. Within a matter of 7 weeks, she was gone. I sure wish she were here so we could keep having fun together, but at the same time, I'm happy for her to be in a way better place.

Here are some pictures we took over Easter weekend. She was miraculously able to enjoy an afternoon out on the town at the new City Creek outdoor mall in downtown SLC. We wheeled her around in her wheelchair, kept her meds handy, and enjoyed the sunshine! So glad we could share that last memory together- it really was a fun time!

And here are some other random good times with grandma hobson aka "gramma chris":

I admire her ability to make people feel special. She is very generous and so fun. She was a good example for me and I am so lucky to have her as my grandma.

I was so glad we were able to be to her funeral. The upside of knowing you'll be dying soon means that you get to plan everything. My dad's company was able to film a really neat life story for her. I love having it!!! Her funeral was so perfect. It was a beautiful day- not depressing- more like a celebration of her wonderful life.
